We provide traders, manufacturers and agribusinesses such as Bunge, Cargill, Unilever, PepsiCo, and Nestle with the data and tools necessary to monitor exposure to environmental risks globally, and track progress against set climate targets. Since our launch in 2016, we’ve grown into a dedicated team of over 40 experts. While our headquarters are in Utrecht, our reach is truly international, with active operations spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.

About the job

As a GIS Specialist, you’ll join a diverse, global team in the Operations department, helping corporations achieve deforestation-free, carbon-positive, and regulation-compliant supply chains. Acting as a key technical link between the company and clients, you’ll manage geodata, translate customer needs into actionable tasks, and work with our Sustainable Sourcing Platform to support sustainability goals. Your responsibilities include onboarding clients, managing datasets, and delivering tailored analyses, such as deforestation summaries, risk assessments, and carbon products. You’ll also provide technical support to customer-facing teams, ensuring a seamless user experience while contributing to the development of tools that drive sustainability.

What you will do

  • Work for a wide range of clients from all over the world to help them towards 100% deforestation-free sourcing.

  • Perform data analyses on deforestation, emissions, or traceability and create visualizations to alert our clients of current or future risks.

  • Tightly collaborate in a small team of other GIS specialists scattered across the globe.

  • Communicate technical information and train users to understand results from our analysis and use them to their full potential.

  • Perform quality assessments of our internal datasets, new features of our platform, and updates to our system backend.

  • Maintain short lines of communication with our commercial colleagues, our engineers and our developers to improve our existing processes and products to make both our and our customers’ lives easier.

About you

  • Based in the Netherlands, with the ability to visit Utrecht on a regular basis; 4+ years of working experience in (geospatial) data analysis.

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

  • Client-oriented with a focus on finding pragmatic solutions for complex problems; Enthusiastic collaborator with self-motivation to work autonomously

  • Expertise with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL, Rasterio/Geopandas); able to work on a basic level with Git to organize code and data.

  • Nice to have: an understanding of forest risk commodities (cocoa, oil palm, coffee, soy, etc.)

  • Nice to have: some Python experience and setting up your own data pipelines.

  • Nice to have: speaking French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Bahasa for communication with clients.

What we offer

  • Office centrally located in Utrecht city.

  • 27 holidays (based on full-time employment).

  • Solid pension scheme with employer contribution

  • Hybrid working options.

  • NS Business Card for employees commuting from outside Utrecht.

  • Laptop and necessary IT equipment provided.

  • Additional income protection in case of long-term illness or disability, complementing the statutory coverage.

  • Daily lunch, fruits, and Aroma Club coffee at the office.

  • Not the main reason to join, but definitely a fun one: Annual Team Week, after-summer drinks with friends and family and a festive End of Year celebration.
